Construction permits are scraped away today at Gina La Fornarina in old P&G Bar space on Amsterdam.

        I spotted a workman scraping construction permits off the window at Gina La Fornarina this morning on my way to work. The small space on the Amsterdam corner once sacred to old P&G, hip to hip with Cesare Casella’s Salumeria Rosi, has been in the works since Amaranth’s Paola Pedrignani disclosed the deal in January. Small white luncheonette tables and chairs were all lined up, ready for the ovens to fire up.

        In the mood for pizzas, focaccias and sandwiches?  Pedrignani says it will open Wednesday evening “if everything goes as planned,” and if not, Thursday.
